Dying Easter Eggs

The boys enjoyed dying eggs this year. We created our own dyes using food coloring. I think next year we will attempt making natural dyes. But with our limited time this year, I think the food coloring dyes were a good choice, especially since we didn't even dye eggs last year. We also tried to use tape to create lines on the eggs, but none of the tapes would stick for us well enough to the eggs. I guess it wasn't meant to be. We also had a color that didn't turn out well - it was purple, which ended up being brown. We tried to salvage it by dipping it in green, which just made it worse. So we decided to call it our dinosaur egg. The rest of the eggs turned out beautifully and we had a great time dying them.

Ready to go

Ian taking the plunge in the blue.

Cole checking out the dark green.

Uh oh, Ian's trying the "purple" which is actually brown.

Gotta be patient if we want the colors to darken.

Beautiful boys with beautiful eggs - Good job!

The pretty eggs distract from the dinosaur egg.
